HISTORY
The Mercedes-Benz 190 SL Roadster was introduced in 1955 as a more refined and accessible companion to the legendary 300 SL. With its graceful proportions, prominent three-pointed star and elegant chrome detailing, it became one of Mercedes-Benz’s most recognizable post-war sports cars.
By 1961, the 190 SL had developed into a sophisticated grand tourer, powered by a 1.9-litre four-cylinder engine with twin Solex carburettors, producing approximately 105 PS (103 hp) and paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Its combination of open-air motoring, comfort and timeless styling made it particularly popular in Europe and the United States.
This 1961 right-hand-drive example, finished in Anthracite Grey Metallic with Red Leather, presents the model in a particularly elegant and sporting colour combination. Production of the 190 SL ended in 1963, paving the way for the celebrated W113 “Pagoda” SL.
